seems like organic farmers are just not using pesticides, are we paying all this to wash the pesticides off?

    Short answer yes
    Long answer no

Organic food is grown with no genetic modifications and no chemical pesticides or fertalizers. This means they are grown the old fashioned way, the hard way, the expensive way.But if you think about it Mad Cow disease would not have been such a problem if people remembered cows were vegetarians, not cannibals. We don’t really know the full extent of the problems we could be causing ourselves by consuming small amounts of toxin on our fruit and vegetables. Maybe nothing . Maybe the cumulative effect is killing us. We don’t know and some people don’t want to take the risk. And don’t forget you pick up this pesticide laced food before you wash it and that stuff may be on your hands when you play with your kids or make a sandwich or whatever.
