Organic Food?
kystik83 asked:
I have been thinking of ways I can improve my over all health. I have been thinking about switching to organic food. There is a huge difference between the price of organic foods and non organic foods. My question is is it worth it? Have no noticed a difference in your health after eating organic foods? Thanks for sharing.

In today’s economy a good way of staying healthy would be to have less worries. Spending too much on organic food is just going to make a person tight on budget and add to his/her worries. Unless you are very well off, I don’t see a good reason to switch to organic.

Our family is on a very tight budget, but we eat almost completely organic. I’m not sure whether there is a difference in our health, because it’s not like we ate total junk one day, and then switched to organic overnight: the change was gradual. We think it is worth knowing that we are putting fewer toxins in our bodies in the long run. We also want to support and encourage organic agriculture for environmental reasons. We grow a garden for some of our veggies in the summer and fall months, and we have found the best suppliers locally for food year round. We have cut costs in other ways, by eating almost no packaged prepared foods. We eat way less meat and dairy (probably the priciest items to get “organic”) and cook our own bread, grains, hot cereal for breakfast, etc. All of this is, of course, also healthier than eating pre-made frozen dinners, etc. To us, the extra time and (possibly?) money is worth it, but I think you have to be the judge for yourself.
