Do you know of any good research papers on Organic Farming?

I am in a class for Environmental Economics and I have to write a term paper on Organic Farming. I would like to do a benefit-cost analysis between conventional farming and organic farming. And would like to answer the following question: Is organic farming better? I know that organic farming produces less so I’m not completely sure if it is better for the environment. I am looking for facts on the costs of the two different farming methods, etc..Please only serious answers.

Organic farming is better for the environment because it doesn’t involve the use of pesticides. However, all pesticides are EPA approved. Companies that produce pesticides spend millions of dollars getting their products EPA approved so they can get it on the market. However, EPA regulations assume the user of the pesticide follows the directions exactly. Failure to do this may or may not have a detrimental affect on the surrounding environment. That depends on what pesticide they are using.
Pesticides usually result in evolution of pests in which they develop resistance. Organic farming is difficult because it requires a lot of labor. Organic farmers need at least 10 times more field hands so those products are much more expensive.
