I am all for organic farming! It’s healthier for you (as long as you buy certified organic products with the USDA seal), as you are not ingesting any trace amounts of the chemicals that many farmers spray on their crops. And I just feel better knowing that I am growing something that grew as it would have thousands of years ago - all natural! Our ancestors did just fine eating food that was grown without any chemicals. (Not taking climate change into consideration, of course.)

Even tho pesticides can be harmful, and I would prefer not to have them drowning my food… I still think that you can’t use nothing when growing.. There are a lot of other things than can damage what you’re trying to grow.. Especially if food is being grown on a mass scale.. There are things that I’d prefer be used to protect the crops, but I don’t think that pesticide overkill is a good thing.
Aside from that.. Organic produce is very expensive.. 4 tomatoes for $21?? *Safeway* Generally families that have a smaller income will usually buy what’s more affordable… mainly the non-organic vegetables..
It was either the FDA or the USDA.. I don’t remember which, but on their website they state that there is no proven difference in nutrition when weighing non-organic vs organic..
On a more personal note.. I don’t really like tomatoes… and when I tried as close to organic as I could get.. it made me like them even less. -.-
There’s this whole thing about more flavour in organics? So my friend says… It was so nasty >< It may be just me, but I like my tomatoes with a pretty bland taste.
If you're putting Organic up against GMOs *Genetically Modified Organisms* the argument is just the same.. the only difference is that with GM foods we can breed them to be more immune to the things we use pesticides for, which would remove the need of said pesticides. We can also breed them to have a higher vitamin content..
Probably the best thing about organic food is growing your own. There are a lot of people that have chronic illnesses that grow and pick their own fruits and vegetables, and they find it wonderful.
That's not to say that "organic" foods won't be contaminated.. Winds and contaminated water can carry toxins into the foods still.. It makes it rather difficult to obtain really organic vegetables..
When considering cost and availability, organic farming can seem impractical for our general world.. However I'm glad the option is there and that it's valued even tho I don't particularly like tomatoes >.> ahem..
