The cost of the two is the main difference. Conventional agriculture is usually cheaper.
But the “cost” to the planet may be another thing. Sustainable farming is probably far better for the planet. The Dustbowl in the 30’s in the Midwest was a result of poor agricultural techniques.
Chemical fertilizers and harm the soil. Pesticides may harm people using them in fields, people living nearby, and the ingestion of pesticides by the consumer may be harmful.
Organic farming takes longer to produce a crop. Organic fertilizers break down slower, whereas chemical ferts can have an immediate effect.
There is no scientific evidence that organic produce is healthier than non-organic. The amount of fruits and vegetables one eats is far more important than whether this produce is produced organically or not.
For people who have little money, it is far healthier for them to eat cheaper produce than to be priced out of fruits and vegetables completely. But in prosperous countries this is probably irrelevant.

The main advantage - it is healthier for both the consumer and the land
The disadvantage - it is very costly
